We wanted to make TV.
But TV, it turns out, isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. So instead we’re here on the Internet, making the TV shows that should have been.
To be honest, I think that’s better. Just like the Internet democratised music, publishing, and eventually movies, it’s now democratising serial visual media – or TV shows, as we know them better. We’ve got the ability to make just about any show we want.
I’m Hugh Hancock. I’ve been making shows on the Internet since 1997, and I’m absolutely thrilled that these days, there are lots of other people making them too.
I talk about the business and art of making TV on the ‘net with tiny budgets and huge enthusiasm, and share some of the stuff I’ve learned, from the making the show to the getting people to watch it to the getting paid at the end, and hopefully provide some info that will help you make your shows, or make them even better.
